Newborn Girl Portrait Session ~ Portland Newborn Photographer

I can’t stop looking at this session. It was a kind of regular, cloudy, grey day in Portland, the kind that makes you want to curl up with a cup of tea (or for me…coffee!). My clients arrived in my temporary studio space on SE Morrison Street, which is a bit rough around the edges compared to my swank 1,400 sq. foot studio on the East Coast. Momma, although tired, arrived along with not only her littlest one, but baby girl’s big brother too, who is two, and super adorable (bonus!!). We rode up the utility elevator, which is always an experience, and arrived in my little concrete box, with beautiful light streaming through three large windows. The session took a couple of hours, and all the time baby and mama were connecting, I got to play with the little man. He was such a good boy! I truly cannot believe he stayed in that room with us, didn’t disturb a single prop, or shot, and THEN he let me take some shots of him that are to die for! What a pal!

Oh, and the shot with the wings I am kind of proud of. I painted those on! My husband thought (to his dismay) that I bought yet another prop, and almost didn’t believe me when I told him they were drawn on afterwards! I think this may be a new thing for me. I loved combining my illustration education (I was also an illustration major), with my love for photography. I kept seeing wings on this beautiful little baby girl, so I decided to try to add them, something I had no idea how to do. This is why I’m proud of it, because I think I figured it out myself, and this is a totally me creation. My vision, my technique, my application. I hope you like it, and I hope I continue to get act on my inspirations!
